Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced on the 23rd December that the state experienced an all-time high in its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N3.8 billion in November 2022. The governor made the announcement while signing the state’s 2023 appropriation bill, dubbed the “Budget of Sustainable Development,” into law in Saki, located in the Oke-Ogun zone of the state.

Makinde emphasised that this unprecedented increase in IGR for November was achieved without raising taxes on citizens. He also noted that the signing of the budget into law in Saki demonstrated the state’s integrated economy.

The governor went on to say that the present administration will focus on expanding the state’s economy through the development of solid minerals and tourism under the Omituntun 2.0 mantra. He thanked the state’s legislative arm for their quick passage of the budget and their dedication to the people of Oyo State.

The speaker of the Oyo House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, also spoke at the event and emphasised the budget’s success due to the synergy and collaboration among the three branches of government in the state. Ogundoyin promised proper budget monitoring to ensure full implementation and high budget performance.

The budget signing was attended by the state’s deputy governor, commissioners, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, among others.
