The facts regarding Adamasingba Sports Complex and the overall GSM EFFECT. That stadium is a sport complex with Olympic sized swimming pool, basketball courts, lawn tennis and recreational area. The total cost of the project might be 5.5 billion Naira, however the overall project also include the construction of hostels and hotel facilities etc and these are additional facilities. It is only a fraction of the money that has been spent. The commissioning was for the football pitch and track area and whatever defects detected will be fixed as the contractor is still on the job, the job will be done.
We need to talk about education, did you know that SS 2 and 3 students in Oyo State get free extra lessons for WASC and JAMB?. The result of this is that Oyo State has moved from the usual 25/26 place out of 36 states in the national WAEC standing to 11th place in the last WAEC. Did you know that some of the halls of residence in the Polytechnic of Ibadan camps have been renovated?. Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) now solely belongs to Oyo State and the government is investing heavily in that institution. Did you consider the fact that teachers now get their salaries as and at when due? Do you know that state secondary schools now get some funds every term based on the number of students in the school as petty cash for immediate needs in the schools? Did you consider the fact that a large number of teachers have just been employed by the State? Do you know that the government is investing time and money to develop agriculture by reviving the run down farm settlements starting with Fasola in Oyo?
So those insinuating that the stadium project is a waste of resources need to understand that for the first time in a long time, we are having a well rounded development in Oyo State. The stadium project is not a finished project and I assure you that by the time the work is done it will be worth it.
Just for your information there is massive renovation work going on in all primary health centres in the state.
You might have a governor that doesn’t discuss his project because he believes he is just doing his job, but please don’t take him for granted because you do not know the value of what you have until you loose it.
I rest my case.
