Oyo State Government says it has started working on an independent power project (IPP) to increase electricity supply to businesses and households in the State.
Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, the Commissioner for Information, said this on Friday at the inauguration of three business in one by a seasoned communication expert, Omolaraeni Olaosebikan, in Ibadan.
Olatubosun mentioned further that the project had been given out and it would be ready for inauguration before the end of 2022.
He said, “We are working on an Independent Power Project to augment whatever supply we get from the national grid. Businesses will benefit from this and it will make doing business in the State more attractive to investors.
“We have given it out and with what we have, before the beginning of the third quarter of next year and by the end of next year, we should invite you all to come and celebrate with us on the project.”
The commissioner said the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde had created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.
He stated that this was the reason more businesses were coming to the State and promised that the government would continue to develop infrastructure in the state to retain the opportunities.
