As Oyo State continues enforcement on environmental sanitation led by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, alongside the Environmental Task Force, and the Amotekun corps, to arrest environmental sanitation offenders.
In a statement signed recently by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni further revealed that it is incumbent on residents of Oyo State to comply with the environmental laws of the State, stressing that the era of indiscriminate dumping of wastes on road medians and other open spaces had passed.
The Commissioner further emphasized that if this trend is not subsidised it could lead to transfer of communicable diseases that may lead to loss of lives
“To this end, any person caught dumping wastes indiscriminately would be dealt with using the full weight of the law” the statement added.
Consequently, the State Government has released to the general public, hotlines: 08067945877 and 07032328993, to assist persons who may have difficulties in disposing their wastes during this yuletide to contact the designated government officials for immediate evacuation of wastes within the State.
Mr. Oni further stated that everyone must collectively work towards projecting Oyo State as a clean, green and environmentally safe state capable of attracting more investors towards ensuring a boost in the economy of the state.
“it’s high time we took the bull by the horn hence this government will not fold its arm and allow perpetrators to sabotage its policies and programmes. As a Government, having a clean and safe environment is not negotiable.” He added.
