For prudent and effective management of public secondary schools in the State, Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has reintroduced the School Governing Board (SGB) system to encourage stakeholders participation. Governor Seyi Makinde who inaugurated the School Governing Board chairmen and members in a ceremony held at the international conference centre, University of Ibadan acknowledged that the SGB system was in line with his administration’s quest to further consolidate achievements in the education sector. The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, emphasized that the School Governing Board (SGB) which is a broad based participatory management system would help ensure utilization of resources for maximum benefits. He equally charged chairmen and members of the SGB to work in harmony, ensuring all actions taken serve a common goal for the benefit of the students and school system. Earlier in his welcome address, the commissioner for education, science and technology, Barrister Rahman Abdulraheem tasked the board to ensure that the about 643 secondary schools in the State experience total turn around through adequate monitoring. The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of appointment letters to selected chairmen and members of the SGB.
