In words of Rev. Croft M. Pentz, “a lie may take care of the present, but it has no future”. Lies undermines good governance and can influence people to do the wrong things.

Also, Michael Ende says “when it comes to controlling human beings there is no better instrument than lies. Because, you see, humans lives by beliefs. And beliefs can be manipulated. The power to manipulate beliefs is the only thing that counts”. It is hilarious that the likes of Adewale Timi were being manipulated and groomed to become political social media thugs in the 21st century in the exchange for peanuts.

Ordinarily, I would not have dignified a ridiculous and spurious facebook post titled ‘dangerous Seyi Makinde boys arrested at Ekiti’ by a nonentity, Adewale Timi with any response, but as a result of the possibility that unsuspecting public may believe hook, line and sinker the garbage contained therein as factual therefore, it is imperative to refute the purported post because it lacked substance.

The Facebook post is a lie from the pit of hell, packaged by the adversaries of the people’s Governor to stain his shining image.

According to the Legendary musician, Michael Jackson, “lies run sprints but the truth runs marathon”. The purveyor and messengers of fake news should know that no matter how hard evil tries, it can never match up to the power of good, because evil is ultimately self-destructive. Evil may set out to corrupt others but in the process corrupt itself.

It is unfortunate that social media platforms have become veritable tools for unscrupulous and shady people like ‘Adewale Timi and his co-travellers to spread inflammatory fake news, causing embarrassment and ultimately eroding trust.

Hence, the reason to puncture the malicious, wicked and unpalatable post capable of reducing the ratings of excellent performances of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde by the general public.

Unfortunately, it is one thing to hear something. It is another to believe it. People take what they read at face value. When we make the effort to seek the truth, we commit ourselves to advancing a world built on honesty, transparency and perhaps most importantly, trust among each other. “A lie runs until is overtaken by the truth”.

It is not out of place to put a small fry like Adewale Timi where he belongs as he is embarking on a journey to perdition which is a dangerous adventure. Yoruba adage says ‘ajá tí ó sonù kìí gbọ fèrè ọlọde meaning a dog destined to be lost does not hear the hunter’s whistle can best described misguided Adewale Timi.

It is a known fact that Governor Makinde detest thuggery as a man of peace personified. Linking thuggery incident that took place elsewhere to him is not only ridiculous but despicable and such paid malicious post is debunked outrightly.

His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde is a refined, polished and pleasant personality who has been constantly admonished people to eschew violence and embrace peace will never condone thuggery in any form because it is in the ambience of peace and tranquility development can thrive. This implies that “the truth is like a lion. You don’t have to defend it. Let it loose. It will defend itself” says St. Augustine.

Governor Makinde’s disposition to a peaceful society has been widely lauded and praised by people from political divide. He has been in the good books of the citizens with his leadership style devoid of acrimony, coercion and violence.

One may ask if an impeccable leader of unquestionable character needs thugs to seek relevance or popularity. The answer is affirmative ‘No’.

It is important to knock it on Adewale Timi’s head and his faceless paymasters to look for another gainful venture because lying to gain peoples’ sympathy and empathy is no longer profitable as citizens are now wiser.

Adewale’s fabricated lies being bandied around on social media is an act of desperation by some unseen charlatans and if not rebuffed might mislead the public. Adewale and his cohorts are the enemies of the people and good governance in Oyo State thus should be treated as such.

For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Makinde is not breeding thugs in Oyo State let alone unleash terror in Ekiti or any other State for that matter. It is a figment of imagination of the agent of falsehood to believe otherwise.

The detractors motives of using brainwashed Adewale Timi and co. as a pawn is part of the propaganda being deployed to portray the ‘Star Boy’, Governor Makinde in bad light especially as we are approaching election period. Thier gimmicks of spreading fake news will fall flat as it is no longer business as usual for crooked elements to decieve the more enlightened people of Oyo State.

Governor Makinde has raised the bar of good governance in all sectors and still working assiduously to achieve more. He is a game changer who is breaking barriers in all ramifications.

Security situation in Oyo State is adjudged to be significantly peaceful as been attested to by notable Nigerians including the opposition parties both at home and in the diaspora. No petty issues would distract ‘Omolúàbí Governor’ as he is a man of great conviction who does not perform his constitutional duties by half measure. It is a fact that Governor Makinde came on board to tackle myriads of bad governance and has not used the challenges confronting his administration as excuses to perform below par as being exhibited by his peers in the country.

Political thuggery and violence in any form have no place in the State as all security apparatus both conventional security agencies and the Southwestern Security Network codenamed Amotekun are working in harmony to combat the activities of criminals plus troublemakers and thier reckless sponsors.

It is noteworthy to jug the critics memories that His Excellency his tackling infrastructure deficits which were an eyesore all over the State before resumption of office, settling backlogs of outstanding salaries and pensions of civil servants, revamping the health sector that was in comatose, reviving education sector that was at its lowest ebb, economy which has been mismanaged in the State is now thriving and brimming with activities by investors, security architecture restructured among others. All these developmental strides were achieved in less than 3 years at the helm of affairs.

Those masquerades behind the spiteful post and other people wanting to destroy the good reputation of the God Sent Man (GSM) should desist from the acts and join people’s Governor and the patriotic citizens in building a greater Oyo State for all.

The people of Oyo State are solidly behind Governor Makinde like the ‘Rock of Gilbraltar’. Any individuals or groups plotting against his person should have a rethink because they will incur the wrath of God and anger of the general public.

I urge the good people of Oyo State to rise up, act accordingly to do the needful by defending the good governance and continue to pray for the success of Governor Makinde in his efforts to transforming and lead the Pacesetter State to the Promised Land.
