The Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has effected a major shakeup among the ranks and files of its top Commanders and second in Commands across the State in a bid to optimize performance and deliver on core mandate of effective road transport management.
It was revealed by the Executive Chairman of the Authority, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi Ph.D while addressing all the Zonal, Area and Unit Commanders of the Authority at the Administrative Headquarters, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, yesterday.
In the statement, Dr. Fagbemi revealed that: “this major shakeup is one of our numerous routine operational changes aimed at ensuring effective service delivery particularly as we are poised to optimizing our performance in the year 2022 and beyond. Management has carefully executed a SWOT analysis on our performances in the past two years and our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats has been identified.
Thus, this development is imperative as it represents a chunk of our strategic action plans to ease traffic, reduce road traffic crashes and make lives easier for the good people of Oyo State in tandem with the Roadmap to Accelerated Development 2019-2023 has championed by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde”, he said.
In addition, the Authority has expanded its Zonal and Area Commands across the State and they include;
IBADAN ZONE 1 (SANYO): Sanyo/Soka, Challenge, New Garrage, Molete, Oke-Bola, Dugbe, Podo, Adeoyo Ring-Road and Mapo.
IBADAN ZONE 2 (ONA ARA): Agugu, Onipepeye, Water, Agodi –Gate
IBADAN ZONE 3 (APATA): Apata, Eleyele 1, Eleyele 2, Omi-Adio, Oluyole, Apete, Elebu.
IBADAN ZONE 4 (MONIYA): Akinyele 1, Akinyele 2, Akinyele Park, U.I/Agbowo, Bodija, Sango
IBADAN ZONE 5 (IWO ROAD): Iwo Road Central, Lagelu, Egbeda SDP, Egbeda Toll Gate, Secretariat Gate, General Gas, Monatan, Idi-Ape, Olodo 1, Olodo 2
ZONE 6 (OYO): Oyo, Afijio and Environs
ZONE 7 (OGBOMOSO): Ogbomoso and Environs
ZONE 8 (SAKI): Saki and Environs.
Furthermore, Three (3) New Area Commands were created in Ibadan to carter for the increasing influx of people and vehicles into the State as a result of the economic and security stability experienced under the Governor Makinde’s Administration.
“These changes are expected to ensure an even spread of the Authorities personnel and ensure that no zone in the State is deprived of the services of the Authority and thus it is expected to make road traffic management in the State more effective than ever before”, Dr. Fagbemi concluded.
