The President of the Carrington Fellowship Network, Olusola Owonikoko met with the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. ‘Seun Fakorede MNSE earlier today to discuss how the United States Consulate through the Carrington Fellowship can “upskill young Oyo indigenes to maximise the numerous opportunities available for young people for the development of the State.”

Owonikoko, the President of the Fellowship noted that the Fellowship was launched in 2011 by the US Consulate-General, Lagos to “bring together Nigerian youths of exceptional vision, skills and experience to design and implement projects that will have a positive impact on Nigerian society.”

According to Owonikoko, the Fellowship has decided to expand its network to Oyo State after acknowledging the efforts of the State Government under Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE in the past 3 years in advancing a knowledge economy and positioning its youths to drive development.

The US Consulate through the Carrington Fellowship has therefore decided to “compliment the efforts of the State Government with global standard training and networking opportunities for high-level skill development for the ultimate benefit of Oyo State.”

The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. ‘Seun Fakorede pledged the support of the State Government to support the teeming youths population of the State with the Fellowship as part of its commitment of “engaging and developing the youths for the greater goal of the State and the country at large.”
