As part of the promise to regulate Okada riders activities rather than ban them completely, the Oyo State Government has expressed its readiness to partner with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to ensure that no motorcycle operates without a registered license plate and particulars within the State.

This development was disclosed by Mr. Adebowale Olufemi Awakan, the Chairman, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue during a familiarization visit which he hosted the new Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Joshua Oluwafemi Adekanye, on Thursday.

Mr. Awakan noted that an enforcement exercise will start soon, whereby defaulters will have their motorcycles impounded.

He also promised a good working relationship with the new Sector Commander and the FRSC as a whole.

The FRSC boss, Corps Commander J.O Adekanye also commended the Board, that their effort and cooperation contributed to the rating of the Oyo State Command of the Corps, ranking 5th in the country.

“The major reason for this visit is to familiarize ourselves with our State Board of Internal Revenue, the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue is a serious stakeholder as far as FRSC is concerned, I also want to put it on record that in the last rating from the headquarters in Abuja, Oyo State came 5th and the meaning of this is that Oyo State is doing very well in terms of revenue generation.”

He also assured the State of his readiness to work together in harmony with the stakeholders to increase its revenue base.
