Oyo State Government has begun a Data Verification Exercise of the owners of properties on the land acquired for the Nigerian Airforce Base in Ajia, Ibadan.
The State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Olusegun Olayiwola, disclosed this while addressing the property owners at the project site in Ajia.
He assured that the government will compensate all the rightful owners of the property after carrying out necessary procedures.
He explained that the ministry has concluded work on the amount to be given to the victims as compensation.
The commissioner maintained that the payment will be in batches, adding that all property owners must undergo the data verification exercise to ensure the payment goes to the right person.
He sought for support and cooperation of property owners and residents of the town in the on- going property owners’ data verification exercise in Ajia.
Olayiwola, however called for the compilation and submission of names of property owners excluded during the initial land enumeration to the ministry for necessary action.
“I commend you for your patience, understanding and cooperation. Some people were saying that the government will not compensate you, it is untrue.”
“The Governor has asked us to look into your issue and give him our report. Governor Makinde loves you and he will put smiles on your faces soon.”
“Our staff will be in Ajia with you for three days for data verification, this is to avert false claims.
“Compensation will be in phases; I assure you that the government will compensate everyone.
Speaking on behalf of the victims, Mr. Adelokun Olalekan, appealed to the government to adopt a master plan enumeration list for data verification exercise and payment to prevent unforeseen circumstances.
Among those who visited the acquired land were Personal Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi and the Directors.
