Ahead of the Saturday elections, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed over four thousand personnel to all polling units in the state to achieve a hitch-free exercise.
This was stated by Micheal Adaralewa, the Oyo State NSCDC Commandant while briefing the officers and men of the command on the importance of professionalism while discharging their duties.
He reiterated the command’s readiness to provide adequate security of life and property, all electoral materials as well as the ad-hoc staff of INEC during the general elections.
Speaking with the officers of the corps before going to their various places of electoral exercises at the State Command Headquarters, Agodi Ibadan, Adaralewa charged the officers of the corps to be patriotic and professional while discharging their duties during the general elections.
The commandant, thereafter, called on all critical stakeholders in the electioneering process in the state, including political leaders and supporters, traditional leaders, religious leaders, market leaders, and the general public to jointly support the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to ensure that the elections are free and fair in the state.⁷
Similarly, Adaralewa has enjoined the voters in the state to remain calm and come out on the day of election to cast their votes peacefully and warned all miscreants and criminal-minded people to rethink their behaviour.
He, therefore, assured that men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other sister agencies would arrest and prosecute anyone caught disrupting the process.
