The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, HRM Oba Francis Olushola Alao, has said that the traditional rulers’ support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election bid is not on partisanship basis but on credibility.

The traditional ruler who is the Deputy Chairman, Oyo state council of Obas and Chiefs made this known in a statement made available to newsmen, on Thursday.

He added that their decision to support the Governor is based on his satisfactory performance in the last four years.

He urged the people of the state to give Governor Makinde a chance to allow him build on the foundation of a better Oyo state which he’s laying.

The statement read: ” In consonance with the groundswell of support for the Executive Governor of Oyo State Engineer Oluseyi Makinde by members of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs of which I am the Deputy Chairman, I hereby affirm my support for the Governor as the candidate of the PDP in the March 18 Governorship Election.

“Members of the Council in Ibadan, Ibarapa, Oyo, Ogbomoso and Oke-Ogun have expressed satisfaction with Governor Makinde at different fora. I, as the Deputy Chairman of the Council wishes to affirm that Governor Makinde should be given the chance for a second term to allow him build on the foundation of a better Oyo State which he is laying.

“Our decision to support Governor Makinde is based on his satisfactory performance in the last four years.

“The Governor has shown credibility, character, good governance, brilliance , understanding of the economy, and has achieved infrastructural development.

“We cannot fold our arms because we are all stakeholders in Oyo State. Our support for Makinde is not on partisanship basis but on credibility.

“He should be re-elected based on his performance. He has done well and should be allowed to sustain the good work.

“I urge all Oyo State people to vote for him. He is an Omoluabi, an emerging leader in Nigeria.”
