Eyes widened in amazement as Hon. Adewale Ishola, a philanthropist and politician hailing from Egbeda Local Government in Ibadan, Oyo State, took center stage in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency. In an act of generosity, he extended a helping hand to 100 individuals, providing them with N50,000 each. This empowerment initiative comes in response to the removal of fuel subsidies by the federal government, a move aimed at alleviating the economic challenges faced by these beneficiaries.
The impactful event, reminiscent of a carnival, unfolded at Greenland Hotel. Alhaji Semiu Alebiosu represented Hon. Ishola in distributing the funds. Hon. Ishola, who previously served as the Campaign Manager for Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election in Egbeda Local Government, stressed the urgency of this gesture. He acknowledged the prevailing economic hardships and the toll taken by the removal of fuel subsidies. The motivation behind the empowerment stems from a desire to support Governor Seyi Makinde’s economic recovery agenda for the state and to provide essential assistance to constituents in dire circumstances.
Notably, Hon. Ishola emphasised that this empowerment extends beyond political motivations and assured that a second phase is in the works, targeting additional beneficiaries. He envisions enabling constituents to overcome current socioeconomic challenges and fostering self-reliance, highlighting the true purpose behind this effort.
Beneficiary Kabir Oladimeji, after receiving his cash donation, expressed gratitude to Hon. Wale Ishola, pledging responsible use of the funds. He commended Hon. Ishola’s genuine concern for the constituents.
Mrs. Lateef Labake, another beneficiary, acknowledged the profound impact of this gesture on the socio-economic status of rural women. She pledged to utilize the funds judiciously and offered unwavering support to Hon. Ishola.
