The Oyo State environmental task force has arrested 19 environmental law offenders for dumping refuse at Alakia Bridge and Iwo Road axis of Ibadan metropolis.
The offenders were arrested during the 2024 maiden monitoring exercise by the State Ministry of Environment and Sanitation special task force.
According to the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Architect Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, the aim of the exercise is to ensure strict compliance with the laws of the state on cleanliness and environmental sanitation.
He assured that the Seyi Makinde led administration will continue to be proactive in ensuring a safe environment adding that it is working round the clock to attract both local and foreign investors to the state.
He further explained that the environmental task force will be stationed in some strategic areas to reduce indiscriminate dumping of refuse across the state.
According to Mogbonjubola, the environmental law offenders will pay a fine of 110,000 Naira or one month community service.
