According to Westernmirror reports, this was as the state government equally disclosed that plans are already concluded to transmit an executive Bill to the state assembly for their legislative consideration and approval.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Oyo state, Biodun Barrister Aikomo, disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, shortly after the state Executive Council meeting held at the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
Aikomo said an executive Bill, when approved by the state legislature, would give the school renaming a constitutional backing.
He added that the executive bill, which seeks to repeal and cause amendments to the establishment law that gave birth to the institution, would provide for the required legal framework for the tertiary institution’s new identity.
He noted that the executive bill, which he said would be called Oyo state tertiary institution bill would consequently give birth to the creation of Oyo state tertiary institution commission.
The new commission, being the first of its kind in Nigeria, when created, will oversee all state owned tertiary institutions in the state.
