There was a massive turn out in Saki West Local Government Area of Oyo State as electorate trooped en masse to vote for their choice candidate for the state House of Assembly.
The rerun election is being conducted in unit 11, ward 6, Odo Odun, Kinikini and unit 19, ward 11,Ogbalanja, Saki West Local Government.
Recall that the Court of Appeal had sacked the lawmaker representing Saki West state constituency, Shittu Ibrahim of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was declared the winner of March 18, 2023 election.
The exercise which started around 8am witnessed high number of security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Civil Defense Corps among others
Speaking during the inspection of the rerun election, the Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella, who was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat expressed satisfaction over the exercise.
The REC said the exercise has been peaceful so far, commending security agents for the peaceful atmosphere
Some of the electorate lauded INEC and the state government for ensuring a peaceful environment for the by-election.
