The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a directive to all Computer-Based Test (CBT) center owners, instructing them to apprehend any parent found in the vicinity of their facilities during the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) exercise.

The directive was issued at the final briefing of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre owners, which was held virtually on Wednesday, 17th April, 2024.

JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, conveyed that this directive was prompted by the intrusive behaviour exhibited by some parents during previous Board exercises.

Quoting JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Benjamin emphasized that any parent found violating this directive would not only face arrest but also lead to the disqualification of their ward from sitting for the examination.

Oloyede elaborated that this stringent measure was deemed necessary due to the observation that many of these intrusive parents have been implicated in facilitating examination malpractices, adding that, some have previously disrupted the Board’s examinations through their actions.

He added that some miscreants also disguise as parents to infiltrate the centres to perpetrate all forms of infractions.
