The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, has announced the postponement of the remaining 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), previously scheduled for Thursday, 1 August 2024.
In a statement released to the press on Wednesday in Ibadan, Professor Salihu Adelabu, Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, stated that the examination has been deferred until further notice.
He explained that the decision to put the remaining examinations on hold was a consequence of the planned protest against hunger, scheduled to take place on 1 August 2024.
Professor Adelabu hinted that a new date for the remaining examination will be communicated to the public in due course.
The Ministry expressed regret for any inconvenience the postponement may cause to students, parents, and teachers.
