The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to uphold electoral integrity in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, emphasizing that the people’s votes should be counted fairly. Speaking during a meeting with leaders from the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Makinde urged that elections in Nigeria should not be treated as a “do-or-die affair.”

Reflecting on his administration’s priorities, Makinde noted that beyond physical infrastructure, he aims to build lasting institutions that will support good governance and foster Oyo State’s growth. He recounted the challenges his administration faced with the durability of Ibadan’s inner roads, which needed a full reconstruction due to their age.

“We don’t want to only be remembered for roads and infrastructure. We want to establish institutions that will support governance for years to come,” he said
