In a groundbreaking achievement, the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub in Oyo State has become the first designated Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Agricultural Transformation Centre (ATC) in Nigeria, as recognized by the African Development Bank Group. This prestigious designation positions the hub as a model for all other ATCs in Nigeria.
The Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub has been making waves in the agricultural sector, with its 1,200-hectare facility expected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people of Oyo State ¹. The hub will also serve as an agrotourism centre, hosting a variety of facilities, including ranching and grazing fields, crop production and processing facilities, and a leisure and entertainment hub featuring a nine-hole golf course.
A team from the African Development Bank, led by Dr. Martin Fregene, Director of Agriculture and Agro-Industry, visited the hub on January 31, 2025, to understudy its operations and explore ways to provide further support. The team included experts in agribusiness, agriculture, and livestock, highlighting the hub’s potential for transformative impact.
As a model ATC, the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub will showcase best practices in agricultural transformation, driving economic growth and development in Oyo State and beyond. This achievement is a testament to the vision and leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, who has prioritized agribusiness as a key driver of the state’s economy.
