Oyo State Government has trained about 180 traders and artisans with prerequisite leadership skills which are significant steps to support the growth and development of Traders and Artisans in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the state.
The state Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry, Adeniyi Adebisi, announced this in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, in Ibadan, the state capital, on Wednesday.
Adebisi said the training was held at the Federal Government Secretariat in Ibadan, with the participants drawn from the 33 Local Government Areas in attendance.
Represented by the Assistant Director of Trade, Olawale Olanrewaju, the commissioner said the training programme aimed to educate traders and artisans on the importance of insurance policies.
He said, “The government does not want any business to fail in the state and is committed to providing the necessary support. The government has also approved a single-digit interest loan scheme for traders and artisans in the 2025 budget.”
Also, Babaloja General of the state, Yekeen Abass, commended the initiative, stating that “leadership plays a vital role in business success.”
He expressed gratitude to state governor, Seyi Makinde, for initiating the training programme, which is expected to have a positive impact on the businesses of traders and artisans in the state
