The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions has proposed a six-month suspension for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following her shouting match with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio over seat arrangements.
The recommendation was contained in a report presented to the Senate on Thursday by the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.
According to the report, the suspension was based on a motion raised by Senator Adeyemi Raphael Adaramodu (Ekiti South), who referenced an incident on February 20, 2025.
He noted that Akpoti-Uduaghan had protested the reallocation of her seat in the Senate chamber, an action he claimed led to unwarranted public outcry.
Following the motion, the Senate referred the matter to the Ethics Committee for investigation.
The committee stated that while Akpoti-Uduaghan had taken legal action to prevent the Senate from performing its constitutional duties under Section 88(1) of the 1999 Constitution, she also submitted a petition on sexual harassment to the Senate, expecting it to be acted upon.
