Dr Debo Akande was born into the Oshofi family of Ara Egbe Omo compound in Oja Oba, Ibadan, with both Muslim and Christian lineage. From a family full of service to humanity rather than a quest for just opulence, his grandfather, Chief Bayonle Akande, was one of the first settlers at Apadaba village in the current Oluyole Local Government. He was a farmer, community leader, and traditional magistrate judge.
His father, Chief Moladun Akande, was the pioneer President of the Farmers Congress of old Oyo State and was part of the generation that laid the foundation for the agricultural development of Southwestern Nigeria. His Mother is of the Ondo heritage and a princess of the Owena kingdom in Ondo town.

Dr. Debo started his academic education at the Islamic Primary School, Bode, Ibadan, where he received his primary school leaving certificate and became well-grounded in Islamic religious knowledge. He proceeded to Methodist High School, Ibadan, where he finished secondary education at the age of fifteen, making him one of the youngest graduates from his set.

He is married to Moriama Olufunmilayo Akande, an Ogbomosho daughter, and blessed with two children.
