Oluyole, Oyo State – Thursday: The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, on Thursday marked his 365 days in office with an elaborate ceremony that drew political leaders, stakeholders, and community members from across Oyo State. The event was graced by the presence of the Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande, whose transformative work in the state’s agricultural sector received special recognition from the Chairman.

Hon. Olatunji, in his address, commended Dr. Debo Akande for his visionary leadership and outstanding contributions to agribusiness in Oyo State, noting that under his coordination, the sector has witnessed unprecedented growth and revitalisation. He also lauded the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his unwavering commitment to agribusiness development and youth empowerment.

In his remarks, Hon. Olatunji highlighted key agricultural interventions championed by Dr. Akande, including the revival of the Fashola Agribusiness Hub, the imminent take-off of the Special Agro-Industrial Zone in Ijaye, and the Eruwa Agribusiness Industrial Hub. He further recalled the successful training of 3,300 youths in modern farming techniques through targeted capacity-building initiatives, and the continued rollout of the NG-CARES (Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus) programme, which has provided critical support to farmers and agripreneurs across the state.

The anniversary celebration also took on a political dimension, with several members of the opposition decamping from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signalling growing confidence in the leadership of Governor Makinde and the developmental strides in Oluyole.

Dignitaries present included the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Oyo Sate,Oyo State Commissioner for Works, a former Senatorial candidate for Oyo North, traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders.

Dr. Debo Akande, in his own goodwill message, congratulated Hon. Olatunji on his first year in office and urged continued partnership between the local government and OYSADA to ensure that agricultural transformation translates into improved livelihoods, food security, and economic resilience for the people of Oluyole.
