In a continued show of commitment to Oyo State’s agribusiness revolution, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, alongside the E.A and Director General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande, paid a strategic visit to the second largest cashew processing factory in Nigeria, located in Lagelu Local Government Area.
The visit is part of the Makinde-led administration’s efforts to deepen value-chain integration and foster industrial growth across agricultural sectors in the state. The factory, renowned for its large-scale capacity in cashew processing and export-ready quality, has become a beacon of agro-industrial excellence, employing hundreds of locals and contributing significantly to Nigeria’s non-oil exports.
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Makinde expressed satisfaction at the facility’s operations, noting that investments like this align perfectly with his administration’s Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023–2027, which places agribusiness at the core of economic diversification.
“We are not just growing what we eat, but also processing what we grow,” the Governor stated. “This visit is a demonstration of our readiness to support and scale such ventures that add value to our produce, create jobs, and promote Oyo State as a leading hub for agro-industrial investments.”
Dr. Debo Akande, whose agency has been instrumental in coordinating agribusiness interventions across the state, emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between government and the private sector to accelerate processing capacity and enhance market access for farmers.
The host Lagelu Local Government Chairman, Sen. Kamorudeen Morenikeji thanked his Excellency for putting conducive atmosphere in place that accommodates investors like Nutlinks Nig. Ltd choosing their Local Government as their factory starting base.
The visit also featured an engagement with the factory management and local stakeholders, with discussions centered around expanding operations, improving logistics, and attracting more cashew farmers to participate in the supply chain.
Oyo State continues to lead by example, as the Makinde administration pushes the frontier of agribusiness forward in ensuring that from farm to factory, every stage of the value chain yields prosperity for the people.
