…Pledges To Clear All Backlogs By 2027
The Oyo State Government has approved an upward review of monthly gratuity payments from ₦1 billion to ₦3 billion, reaffirming its commitment to prioritising the welfare of pensioners and addressing long-standing backlog obligations.
The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, disclosed this on Tuesday in his office, adding that a total of 4,612 retirees have benefitted since the inception of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
According to the Commissioner, Governor Seyi Makinde has again increased the monthly release of gratuity by 200%, with the total allocation rising from ₦1 billion to ₦3 billion effective from January 2026.
He lauded Governor Makinde for his vision, focus, and people-friendly governance, emphasising that no civil servant is left unattended to.
He assured that all outstanding gratuity arrears will be cleared by the end of the Governor’s tenure in May 2027.
The Commissioner added that Governor Makinde’s intervention demonstrates his commitment to securing the welfare of retirees and ensuring prompt, transparent and effective payment of pensions and gratuities.
Prof. Adelabu admonished everyone to embrace hope, unity, and progress in the coming year under the purposeful and dynamic leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
In a New Year message, the Commissioner wished all retirees, civil servants, and residents of Oyo State a prosperous and peaceful 2026.
