…Challenges Wike on Rivers PDP
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has named the newly constructed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat in Ibadan *Kunmi Mustapha House*, while challenging the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to demonstrate his impact on the PDP in Rivers State.
Governor Makinde made this remark on Tuesday during the official commissioning of the new PDP Secretariat located at Oke Ado, Ibadan. He was responding to comments attributed to Wike regarding the monitoring of PDP activities in Oyo State.
Speaking at the event, Makinde stated that what he described as “vagabondage” within the party since 2015 had come to an end. He appealed to party members for forgiveness over his association with certain individuals during the 2023 political season, noting that he had since returned fully and resolutely to the party.
The governor highlighted his achievements within the party since assuming office in 2019, stressing that his administration would continue to reward hard work, dedication and loyalty. According to him, the construction of the PDP South-West Zonal Secretariat and the Oyo State party secretariat underscores his commitment to strengthening democracy in the country.
Makinde also commended the unity currently enjoyed within the party, reaffirming his confidence in the nation’s judiciary and expressing optimism that truth and justice would ultimately prevail within the PDP.
In their separate remarks, the Oyo State PDP Chairman, Elder Dayo Ogungbenro; former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; wife of a former Oyo State governor, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja; and Chairman of the Elders’ State Council, Dr Saka Balogun, praised the foresight of the Makinde-led administration. They reiterated the party’s commitment to retaining power beyond 2027 to ensure sustainable democratic governance in the state.
Earlier, the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, described the newly commissioned building as a lasting legacy, urging party members to remain focused, united and resolute despite opposition challenges across the country.

The event was attended by party leaders from across the South-West and other parts of Nigeria, as well as members of the National and State Assemblies, among other stakeholders.
