Governor Seyi Makinde has announced a ₦10,000 monthly transportation allowance for civil servants across Oyo State, set to run for an initial period of three months.
The governor made this known on Monday while overseeing the YEAP-SAFER support disbursement and stakeholder engagement programme, held in collaboration with First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Mastercard at the Fashola Agribusiness Hub.
According to Makinde, the initiative forms part of the state government’s strategic response to current economic challenges, especially the rising cost of transportation, which has been affecting workers’ welfare and productivity.
He explained that the support is aimed at easing the financial strain on civil servants while maintaining efficient service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies.

With the steady increase in transportation costs, it is our responsibility as a government to provide relief,” the governor stated.
Makinde further noted that the measure is in line with his administration’s commitment to worker-friendly policies and sustainable economic relief initiatives under the SAfER framework.
The event also featured the disbursement of funds to beneficiaries of the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP) and other targeted support programmes designed to boost economic activities and improve livelihoods across the state.
Stakeholders present at the engagement lauded the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would offer immediate relief to workers dealing with inflationary pressures.
The ₦10,000 transportation support will take effect from March, with details of the disbursement process to be communicated through appropriate government channels.
