Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between him and the Seyi Makinde, describing such claims as unfounded and misleading.

In a statement issued through his media aide, Adeola Oloko, the monarch clarified that there is no disagreement whatsoever between the Olubadan and the Oyo State Governor.

“We wish to make it abundantly clear that there is no rift between Kabiyesi and the Olori Omo Oba of Ibadanland,” the statement read.

The palace also refuted claims that the Olubadan deliberately traveled out of Ibadan to avoid participating in the coronation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 3.

According to the statement, the monarch remains in Ibadan, hale and hearty, and continues to perform his royal duties.

Addressing the status of the planned coronation, the Olubadan revealed that three High Chiefs expected to be elevated had formally notified him of their inability to attend the ceremony and requested its postponement.

The development, the statement added, has been duly communicated to the state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The palace urged the public to disregard the rumours and rely only on verified information regarding activities of the Olubadan-in-Council.
