As part of efforts to tackle food insecurity in Oyo state and the nation at large, the State Government in conjunction with International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, has flagged-off training programme for farmers in the rural communities of the state.

The programme was flagged off during a special event held at the IITA youth Agribusiness incubation park centre, Awe, in Afijio Local Government.

Addressing the 62 participants drawn from various local governments in the state, the commissioner for Agriculture Barr Olasunkanmi Olaleye stated that the programme is a practical demonstration of the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s led administration to improve the Agricultural sector in the state.

He added that the participants for the first phase have being allocated two acres of land each for demonstration.

The event featured distribution of farm inputs to the participants.
