Governor Eno ranked as the “Most Inspiring”
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno have emerged as Nigeria’s most admired sub-national leaders in a new leadership perception survey released by the Nigeria Social Media Week Group (NSG).
According to the 2024 survey report presented at the end of the NSG’s Q1 roundtable meeting held in Abuja, Governor Makinde retained his title as Nigeria’s “Most Loved” and “Most Admired” Governor, while Governor Eno was ranked as the “Most Inspiring” state leader in the country.
The NSG, a digital peer-review and governance tracking platform, said the rankings were based on independently conducted online surveys that measured public perception across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones.
Respondents were drawn primarily from youth clusters and digital civil society communities.
In a statement released Wednesday, NSG Team Lead for 2025, Dr. Mark Audu, explained that the survey focused on leadership accessibility, performance, public engagement, national recognition, and legacy achievements.
Audu said, “Governor Makinde was rated as the most accessible, nationally admired, and resourceful governor.
“He scored highest on initiatives like the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub and key infrastructure projects that have significantly boosted investment and economic activity in Oyo State.”
Makinde, who also led the NSG perception polls in 2023, continues to receive acclaim for his people-centric governance style and consistent engagement with youth and civil society.
Respondents cited his open-door approach, economic reforms, and increasing international partnerships as major drivers of his popularity.
On his part, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom was praised for his steady and compassionate leadership, especially in the face of personal tragedy – the recent loss of his wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
The NSG report credited Eno with the highest ratings for “resilience, emotional strength, and inspirational leadership.”
He was also acknowledged for his youth mentorship initiatives, entrepreneurship support programs, educational empowerment efforts, and infrastructure delivery under his administration’s ARISE Agenda.
“Governor Eno’s ability to maintain stability, stay connected to the people, and inspire hope even during trying moments captured the hearts of many respondents nationwide,” Dr. Audu added.
The NSG, founded to foster leadership transparency and accountability through digital civic engagement, said the survey outcome reflects growing interest in youth-led governance assessments and the role of social media in shaping public trust in leadership.
Audu confirmed that official recognition awards will be presented to Makinde, Eno, and other high-ranking governors and public officials at a later date.
The NSG team emphasised that their ratings are non-partisan and based strictly on verifiable leadership impact, public feedback, and digital data tracking across Nigeria’s governance landscape.
