Mr. Odunayo Alade, father of Kehinde Alade the WAEC candidate tragically shot by a security operative in Ibadan has opened up about the heartbreaking incident.
Speaking in a press interview, the grieving father explained that he didn’t initially stop when flagged down by officers because his son had an important WAEC exam scheduled for 8:30AM.
You know how this system works. If I had stopped, they would’ve delayed my son. His elder brother was also writing the same paper. I had to maneuver so they wouldn’t miss it.
Mr. Alade said he was unaware of the shot fired until his son’s twin brother raised the alarm from the backseat.
I just heard a gunshot but didn’t stop. I thought we had left them behind. My son cried out ‘Daddy!’ but I shouted back at him, not knowing he had been shot. It was his twin who alerted me. I stopped and saw the car soaked in blood. That was when reality hit.
In a deeply emotional moment, he added that his late son had recently shared his dream of becoming a lawyer.
Just last week, he said, ‘Daddy, I want to be a lawyer.’ That dream is now gone.
May the soul of young Kehinde Alade rest in peace.
