On Saturday, May 31st, 2025, the Bethiez Relief and Empowerment Foundation, in collaboration with JCI Premier, hosted a transformative outreach programme at Sabo Primary Healthcare Centre, Sabo, Ibadan, Oyo State, to empower young girls through the provision of essential feminine hygiene products and knowledge to manage their menstrual health confidently.

The event, themed “Flow with Dignity: Empowering Girls, One Pad at a Time”, focused on promoting menstrual hygiene awareness, self-confidence, and overall well-being among adolescent girls, many of whom lack access to basic sanitary care. The initiative directly addressed period poverty and menstrual stigma, two barriers that often keep girls out of school and silence important conversations around puberty and self-care.  Through this outreach, over 130 girls between the ages of nine (9) and twenty-two (22) received free sanitary pads, roll-ons, and participated in interactive sessions on menstrual hygiene management, self-confidence, and personal care.

In her keynote remarks, Elizabeth Ademola, the founder of The Bethiez Relief and Empowerment Foundation, emphasized the importance of restoring dignity and confidence to young girls through such initiatives. “At Bethiez Foundation, we believe every girl deserves to feel seen, valued, and empowered”. “A sanitary pad might seem small, but it can mean a lot to a girl who has had to miss school because of her period. This is about restoring dignity and unlocking potential”, said Elizabeth.

The outreach created a safe and supportive environment for girls to ask questions and share their personal experiences openly. Volunteers from both Bethiez Foundation and JCI Premier were on ground to facilitate group discussions, coordinate distribution, and offer words of encouragement.

The partnership with JCI Premier further highlighted the power of collaboration in addressing grassroots challenges. Together, the two organizations are demonstrating how small acts of kindness and advocacy can create lasting social impact.

The event concluded on a high note, with laughter, heartfelt connections, and renewed confidence among the girls. It was a clear reminder that empowering young girls today builds stronger communities tomorrow.
