Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will sign the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N892 billion into law on Monday.
This was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday.
PUNCH Online reports that the budget signing ceremony, which will be held at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office, comes after the state House of Assembly passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill last week following meticulous consideration.
The governor had, on November 24, 2025, presented the 2026 budget proposal, christened the Budget of Economic Expansion, to the Assembly, with a total estimate of ₦891,985,074,480.79.
He had stated at the event that the 2026 budget was designed to build on the foundation of stability to drive productivity and inclusive growth.
“Expected at the ceremony are the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; and the Chief Judge of the state, Iyabo Yerima.
“Other functionaries expected are former Deputy Governors, Hamid Gbadamosi; Hazeem Gbolarumi; and Taofeek Arapaja; Mutiat Ladoja; former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, as well as the Chairman and members of the Assembly’s Appropriation Committee.
“Also billed to attend are the chairman and co-chairman of the state Elders’ Council; chairman of the state Advisory Council; the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party; Chairman of the state Local Government Chairmen; labour union leaders; selected religious leaders and royal fathers, among others,” the statement partly read.
