Oyo State Governor and Presidential Candidate of the Allied People’s Movement, APM, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde FNSE, is set to formally inaugurate the party’s Oyo State Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council on Friday, July 31, 2026.

The inauguration, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Conference Room of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, marks a major step in the APM’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde said the Council was constituted to coordinate the party’s campaigns and ensure effective grassroots mobilization for both the presidential and governorship elections in Oyo State.

To lead the campaign structure, the Governor appointed the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, as the Oyo State Coordinator of the APM 2027 Presidential Campaign. Dr. Adeniran will also double as the Director-General of the Oyo State Governorship Campaign Council.

Announcing other principal officers, the statement noted that the appointments reflect a balance of experience, competence, loyalty, and grassroots reach across the three senatorial districts of the state.

They include:

Hon. Saheed Arowosaye, AROSAD, former Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, as Deputy State Coordinator, APM 2027 Presidential Campaign.

Hon. Demola Ojo, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, as Deputy Director-General, South Senatorial District.

Dr. Femi Ojo as Deputy Director-General, Oyo Central Senatorial District.

Alhaji Siju Lawal as Deputy Director-General, Oyo North Senatorial District.

Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo as Director, Women’s Wing.

Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa, former Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Youth and Sports, as Director, Youth Wing.

“These appointments are strategic and reflect our commitment to inclusive politics, youth engagement, women participation, and effective grassroots mobilization ahead of 2027,” the statement quoted the Governor as saying.

Governor Makinde expressed confidence that the team, under Dr. Adeniran’s leadership, will work assiduously to deliver victory for the APM at both the presidential and state levels.

He added that additional members of the campaign structure would be announced in due course to ensure full representation across all local governments and wards in the state.

Political observers say the inauguration signals the commencement of full-scale political activities by the APM in Oyo State ahead of 2027.

With Dr. Adeniran, a seasoned administrator and grassroots mobilizer, at the helm, the party is positioning itself to consolidate its structures and deepen engagement with voters across Oyo State.

The Governor urged all appointees to see their roles as a call to service and to work with unity of purpose to advance the ideals of the APM and the development agenda of Oyo State.

The event is expected to have in attendance party leaders, stakeholders, traditional rulers, and supporters from across the 33 local government areas of the state.
