The Oyo State Government has inaugurated the State Immunisation Task Force Committee in a bid to reduce the number of unimmunised children in the State, and provide preventive healthcare services to rural residents.

The taskforce is a platform for inter-sectoral groups to support the ongoing efforts of the Seyi Makinde led administration to cater for the well being of the Oyo State residents.

The Secretary of the Oyo State Primary Healthcare, Dr. Olatunji, noted that it is pleasing to see the Seyi Makinde led Oyo State Government paying attention to the health of the citizens and ensuring that every child is vaccinated.

He said that it is a better policy to prevent that sourcing for cure.

Same was said by the Acting Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal, who also noted that the inauguration proves the commitment of the administration to the well being of the people and to reduce infant mortality.

He also noted that the same reason was what made the government adopt the policy of providing at least one healthcare facility in each ward, to improve the State’s failing healthcare system.

He also noted that the task force will engage public health institutions, leaders and people of influence in the society, traders, national and international organizations, relevant stakeholders and partners, to map out and sustain immunisation policies in the State.

The Acting Governor also noted that the State Government is ready to harness every opportunity provides by developmental partners such as UNICEF, WHO, Breakthrough Action, NPHCDA, APIN, NCDC, and Institute of Human Virology.
