On the 8th of August 2021, the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) embarked on another batch of training of youths on the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP), The Oyo State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the CSS Global Integrated Farms in Nasarawa State to train 3,300 youths from the state on agriculture and agribusiness.

Governor Seyi Makinde, who disclosed this at a Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on the 2022 Budget, noted that the move is part of measures being taken by His administration to address the challenges of youth unrest and youth unemployment.

The Governor in his speech said “I am happy to tell you that we just signed an MoU with CSS Farms in Nasarawa State to assist us in training 3,300 youths in agriculture and agribusiness. The training will last two weeks. The first set will start on August 1, and there will be 150 participants for every batch. By the end of August, we would have trained 600 of them.”

Governor Makinde, who stated that his administration will do everything to ensure that youths in the state are meaningfully engaged, said he has also instructed the local governments to set up Direct Labour Agencies, which would absorb the youths to engage in minor construction and other works.

The participants, in their speech appreciate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for this laudable, and touchstone efforts to engage the Youth in different enterprise of agribusiness.

They went further saying “You have given us much and a proportionate result should be expected from us as youth in complimenting, promoting the state’s economy, poverty to prosperity model as well as empowering youths for independent business control without having to looking for white collar Jobs”.

The youths in their speech has promised not to let the state and good people of Oyo State down.

We shall not let His Excellency down, we shall build on the opportunities Governor Seyi Makinde has given us as youths of Oyo State to make our future better, bigger and greater….

This is a massive step towards the empowerment of youths and boosting of the agribusiness industry to change the narrative from what it used to be to what it ought to be.

Governor Seyi Makinde is actively living the Humanitarian Life.
