The Oyo State Government on Monday 23rd of August, inducted 5,000 newly-recruited and trained teachers with 700 non-teaching staff, charging them to be professional in discharging their duties.

At the occasion which was held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde declared that his administration will continue training and retraining teachers to make sure they are provided with the necessary support needed to carry out their duties.

Makinde, who identifies education as one of the pillars of his administration, charged the teachers to also be hardworking, explaining that whatever they did in their respective schools would definitely reflect on the overall performance of his administration.

Makinde said: “I ask you to partner with us, to continue to make the kind of progress we are making, so we will continue to train and retrain you and provide opportunities for you”

In his remarks, Mr Akinade Alamu, the Chairman, Oyo State Post-Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) said that the process of recruiting the new teachers was free, saying that all the successful employees were recruited on merit.

Alamu appreciated His Excellency Gov Seyi Makinde for approving the training of the recruited teachers, saying that the training would go a long way in enhancing their performance.

The highlights of the occasion was the administering of oath on the inducted teachers and also a symbolic presentation of certificates of attendance to them.
