The Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) together with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Fire Service, Red Cross Society and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are collaborating to draft a new curve in the management of road traffic crashes and emergency rescue operations in Oyo State.

It was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of the Authority, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi PhD who was represented by the Commander, OYRTMA Rescue Operations Team, Mr. Kayode Adisa at a one-day capacity building workshop held at the premises of the FRSC, Oyo State Command, Eleyele, Ibadan.

The workshop highlighted the global best practices in road traffic crash management and the expected Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the caregivers including the Rescue Operations Team of the various agencies.

Sources drawn from NEMA and other organisations spoke extensively on Post-Crash Care, Safety of Rescue Officials, Rescue Operations Device, Tools and Equipment and their applications, Administration of First Aid Treatment and Diversion of Road Traffic at scenes of crashes and its environ among other topical issues.

The workshop is expected to be a continuous exercise that would keep updating rescue officials of trending global approaches to saving lives of victims of road traffic crashes across the State.
