As political activities heat up ahead of the 2023 general election in Nigeria, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) does not pose a threat to the PDP reclaiming power at the center in 2023. It was gathered that Governor Wike said this while speaking to some newsmen shortly after holding a close door meeting with his Oyo State Counterpart Seyi Makinde in Ibadan. He observed that the general mood of Nigerians shows they are tired of the present APC-led Government and wants a change in leadership.

Wike further stressed the need for synergy among key party stakeholders across geo-political zones to produce a candidate that Nigerians can accept to pave the way for a successful outing at the polls.

Governor Wike however said that despite the clamor by his fellow governors for a southern presidential candidate, the PDP will consult widely before picking a candidate that will fly the party’s flag in the 2023 general elections.

Wike entourage include the former Governor of Rivers State, Celestine Omehia, former Deputy Speaker, House of Rep, Prince Chibudom Nwuche, former Minister for Transport, Chief Abiye Sekibo, former Special Adviser to the President and further MD NDDC, Chief Timi Alaibe, and River State PDP chairman, Ambassador Desmond Akawor.
