The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, represented by his Chief Of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi lauches Africar and reiterated that his administration will continue to facilitate accelerated development as it has yielded positive results by attracting investors to the State.

During the launching of the Africar means of transportation in Ibadan, which is an online ride-hailing platform that recently activated their business in the State as a pilot state, and exploring the investment friendly environment provided by the State Government, it was emphasized that the State has witnessed and is still witnessing tremendous growth in the transportation sector since the beginning of this administration.

Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi went ahead to list some of the achievements in the sector to include the completion of 94.202km roads, purchase of 109 buses for mass transit, construction of four bus terminals, junction improvement and installation of traffic lights at various intersections, amongst others. He also noted the ongoing construction of 284km roads.

The CEO of Africar, Mr. Sahil Vaswani also appreciated the Governor, stating that through his support, they have been able to achieve a lot within a short period and the business is growing exponentially. He also noted that the company has recorded over 100,000 downloads in less than six weeks.

He went ahead to commend the Governor for the creation of an enabling environment which has paved way for healthy business transactions like his Africar, and that his experience in Ibadan has been his best since he has been working in Nigeria.

The launching event which was held at Golden Tulip in Ibadan, had in attendance, the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, the Oyo State Honourable Commissioner of Works and Transport, Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin and other dignitaries from various spheres.
