It is believed that anyone who is not responsible enough to raise and lead a family, cannot lead a State or Nation; and this is why, though not constitutional, but culturally necessary that anyone who is vying the position of leadership of a State or the Country, considering the age requirement, should be married as a show of responsibility.

It is unconventional to find families of politicians not living in affluence and affiliations to their political icons in the family, especially children of politicians. Nigerian news on several instances, have been garnished with stories of children of political office holders exhibiting frivolities, lavishness and extravagance, most of which are parallel to their parents or families’ assets and their own personal income.

However, it is always good to note differences and set them as examples of ideal governance and leadership, especially in a society where young ones are in dire need of worthy and exemplary heroes.

Oyo State then should be grateful for the perfection that God has blessed them with in a Governor, who hasn’t only been a pace setter of good governance and ideal leadership, but has also embodied a beautiful family leadership.

SeyiMakinde has posed a balance between societal leadership or what we will call his job, and family leadership; by taking time out amidst all expectations of him, to be with his family. This leader has not neglected his first and natural call to responsibility by ensuring he maintains the importance of his family.

Not only that, Governor SeyiMakinde is obviously raising a family that is not dependent on his political status for affluence, as neither his wife nor his children are living off the State’s resources or placed in any position of authority except that that comes with being the Wife of the Governor, which is more of a responsibility expected as the Women’s leader in the State.

The family’s success is posed to be on hard work, as both SeyiMakinde and his wife are said to be successful business personalities before his emergence as Governor of the State, and one of his children is working in a private sector, while the remaining two are currently students.

As Africans, though not limited to us, it is believed that the head of every society in a great deal influences the tone of other subjects in that society, it is then very necessary that Kings, Governors and Presidents, amongst others, are exhibiting lifestyles worthy of emulation.

The SeyiMakinde family has pragmatically projected these and therefore worthy of emulation as exemplary symbols of ideal family and societal leadership.
