The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 hosted some selected secondary school girls across the State in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child Year 2022, themed, “Our Time is Now: Our Rights, Our Future”.

In a statement released on her page, she noted that she told the girls to see their secondary school years as their formative and foundational years.

In her words, “Earlier today, I hosted selected secondary school girls from across Oyo State to celebrate the Year 2022 International Day of the Girl Child.”

“While addressing the girls, I told them to see secondary school years as their formative and foundational years, so they have the responsibility of doing everything it takes to secure their future, which I said starts now.”

She also noted the work of the teachers in these schools and thank them for the roles they are playing in the lives of the girl child across the State.

She further stated that it is necessary to support the girl child and make their voices heard because it is the greatest legacy that can be left with them for the future.

“I thanked the teachers for the important role they are playing in ensuring that the right of the girl child is respected. I reminded them that they are an extension of God’s hand in their lives and should see their assignment as divine.”

“I further told the gathering that our time to support the Girl Child to make her voice heard is now because she is the greatest legacy we will leave behind for our future.” She stated.
