Five males have been ordered to remain in custody at the Agodi Correctional center in Ibadan as a result of the alleged murder of three ladies by a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan.

The defendants are Oyetunji Omotayo, 29, Wojuala Oluwatosin, 29, Akinlabi Michael, 28, Oyetunji Rotimi, 23, and Adedokun Mathew, 29.

They were accused by the police of three offenses that had to do with conspiracy, murder, and obstruction of justice.

They were ordered to remain in custody at the Agodi detention facility by Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu after he rejected their plea of lack of jurisdiction.

Idowu advised them to stay put in the jail or prison until the Oyo State Ministry of Justice provided them with legal counsel.

He, thereafter, adjourned the matter until March 16, for mention.

Omotayo, Michael, Rotimi, and Matthew are accused of conspiring to commit murder around 12:01 a.m. on January 1, according to prosecutor ASP. Adewale Amos.

Adewale said that on January 1 at around 12.45 a.m. at Akinmorin town, Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State, the four defendants intentionally caused the deaths of Olukemi Okeseyin, 60, Amoke Abiodun, 30, and Ayo Muyiwa, 24.

“The accused, while driving a Toyota Camry car with Registration No. EKY 14 HP, allegedly intentionally crushed the women intentionally to death.

“The fifth defendant, Oluwatosin, knowing the gravity of the offense, tried to prevent the police from arresting the other accused.

Adewale said the offense contravened section 10 and 316 and was punishable under section 319, 519 and 324 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
