Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has expressed his sorrow at the passing of Imam Sheikh Mashood Abdul Ganiyy Adebayo III, the chief imam of Oyo Town, noting that the residents of the State had suffered a great loss as a result of the imam’s passing.

The Governor offered his condolences to the Muslim community in Oyo Town and Oyo State as a whole stating that the Chief imam would be sorely missed and

According to a statement by the governor’s chief press secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, the retiring Islamic cleric was a peacemaker who cooperatively worked with the Oyo Mesi, the sons and daughters of Oyo, as well as other facets of society.
The statement further quoted the governor as saying that the late Chief Imam played his part well in the development of the state and the growth of Islam.

In his prayers, he asked Allah to grant him Aljanah Firdaus and to give the Muslim Ummah, the Chief Imam’s family, and the whole Oyo community the strength to endure the death of the beloved Islamic leader.

The governor said: “I received the news of the death of our Baba, the Chief Imam of Oyo Town, Imam Sheikh Mashood Abdul Ganiyy Adebayo Ajokidero III, with total submission to the will of Allah.

“His death is a huge loss to the State, because he contributed immensely to the growth of Islam and the development of Oyo State.

“I condole with all Oyo Mesi and the entire people of Oyo and the Muslim Ummah in the state.

“It is my prayer that the Almighty grants the late Chief Imam Sheikh Mashood Abdul Ganiyy Adebayo Ajokidero III, Aljanah Firdaus and gives everyone he left behind the strength and courage to bear the loss.”
