The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Adebowale Williams has presented over twenty million naira cheque to 20 representatives of the families of some Police men who died in active service.

Mr Williams made the presentation of the cheques at the State’s police headquarters Eleyele Ibadan.

While presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police said the act fell under the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba’s Group Life Assurance and Family Welfare Scheme.

“The beneficiaries of the scheme include Otoikhila Favour, Otoikhila Jeremiah, Stephen Tahakai, Aknbi Akorede, Godiya Nicholas, Taiwo Christiana, Gidido Blessing, Aregbokhan Hope, Oladigbolu Boluwatife, Ayanleke Sikiru, Agoh Janet and Agoh Mary”

He further stated that the IGP’s welfare scheme was meant to ameliorate the suffering or hardship faced by the deceased immediate family before the benefits of such officers are paid.

Mr Williams therefore urged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the money for the upkeep and welfare of their families.

The beneficiaries who were next of Kin of the deceased Police Officers promised to make good use of the money, noting that the gesture came when it was needed most.
