…Vows to carryout integrity test on structure

Today, around 3:00 pm, a building located at Alakia, Airport Road, opposite Access Bank in the Gbagi area, collapsed.

The structure is dangerously close to a high-tension line on the road, posing a threat to neighboring buildings and nearby shops. Additionally, the remnants of the collapsed building could become even more hazardous if there is heavy rainfall.

Mr. Akinfunmilayo, Oyo state Commissioner for Lands, who arrived at the scene, stated that he was alerted about the building collapse and came to assess the situation in person. He mentioned that a team from the Ministry of Land and Housing will conduct an integrity test on the building tomorrow to determine whether the construction can continue or should be halted.

As a precautionary measure, the state government has sealed off the site and ordered the engineers to suspend their work until the integrity test is completed.

Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities in the collapse, although one person sustained serious injuries.
