As part of efforts towards combating crime, the Oyo state government has pledged to continue its support for the police.
The State Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal disclosed this when the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South West Zone, Abiodun Alabi paid him a courtesy call.
Lawal while receiving the Deputy Inspector General of Police said the issue of security in the state has been of utmost importance to the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde While noting that the issue of security cannot be overemphasized in the south west especially Oyo state, the deputy governor promised more support for the state police command in terms of logistics and other exigencies.
He seized the opportunity to appeal to the Nigeria police high command and in the state to fortify security especially in the Oke-Ogun axis of the state where cases of criminal activities including banditry and kidnappings are rampant.
The DIG overseeing the south west of Nigeria, Abiodun Alabi in his remarks said his visit to the state was borne out of the directive by the Inspector General of Police for them to embark on assessment tours of their areas of jurisdiction and appraise the security situation in the areas.
