In a significant development, the Oyo State Government’s gas project, in partnership with Shell, has reached a major milestone. The Hon. Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Ashamu TNA, announced on social media that the first pipes have been welded on the gas pipeline infrastructure project.¹

Remember that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde signed a partnership deal between the state government and Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) which the project is expected to boost industrialization and enhance economic development in the state.

The project, worth $100 million, aims to provide piped natural gas to industries and commercial users in Oyo State.

According to Governor Seyi Makinde, the project is a key component of the state’s vision for energy security. The governor emphasized that access to piped natural gas will have a significant impact on the state’s economic landscape.

The project is expected to deliver millions of standard cubic feet of gas per day, starting from the state capital, Ibadan. This will enable the supply of pipeline gas to industries and commercial users, promoting economic growth and development.

With this milestone achieved, the project is on track to meet its target of delivering gas to customers in the near future. This development is a testament to the state government’s commitment to sustainable development and energy security
