The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the release of One Billion, One Hundred Million Naira for the payment of gratuities to retired civil servants, as well as the disbursement of death benefits to the next-of-kin of deceased retirees.

The Chairman, Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Ademola Ige disclosed this at the Local Government Staff Training School, Secretariat, Ibadan venue of the flag-off ceremony of the disbursement exercise.

Addressing attendees at the event, Hon. Ademola Ige, lauded the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of retirees.

Hon. Ige also urged the relatives of deceased pensioners to utilize the money for meaningful and purposeful causes in memory of their loved ones.

In their remarks, the Chairman, Local Government Forum 1 Pensions, Alhaji Munirudeen Adesope, and the State Secretary, Retired Primary School Teachers, Comrade Tunji Ogunwole, advised the retirees to manage their funds responsibly, emphasizing the importance of financial prudence and healthy living in retirement.

Representing the beneficiaries at the ceremony, Mr. Samuel Akintayo and Mrs. Adedayo Akintaro expressed gratitude to the state government for prioritizing their needs and ensuring that long-awaited entitlements were finally being paid.
